Thassos island is only accessible by ferry boat from the ports of Kavala and Keramoti. You can reach Kavala and Keramoti by airplane or by car through Egnatia Motorway that runs from Igoumenitsa in the west to Alexandroupoli, close to the Turkish borders, in the east.
FROM KAVALA
When you arrive in Skala Prinos turn right at the ring road at Skala Prinos and continue past Prinos, Skala Sotiros, Skala Kallirachis and Skala Maries until you reach either Limenaria or Potos. The distance from Prinos to Limenaria is approximately 24 kilometers.
FROM KERAMOTI
From Keramoti port the ferry boat arrives at Limenas (Thassos Town), the capital of Thassos Island. The journey time is 35 minutes and there are regular sailings, normally every half an hour during the summer. From Limenas, car or bus, turn right at the ring road and follow the signs for Prinos from there it is the same as the above directions (Kavala/Skala Prinos). The distance from Limenas to Limenaria is approximately 38 kilometers.
BY AIRPLANE
The closest airport to Thassos is Kavala Airport (Megas Alexandros Airport) which is close to Chrisoupolis just 17 km’s from the port of Keramoti. There is an all year round daily service to Athens and during the summer hosts charter flights from all over Europe.
